What I like most about this hiking trail is that it starts at a high point and meanders down the mountain slowly. I’m a sucker for downhill trails, who isn’t?

Hong Kong Trail Stage 1 is great for grabbing some great photos overlooking Hong Kong. It also has some nice waterfalls crossing the path from the midway point onward.

This hike is very much family orientated with signage displaying wildlife and fauna found in the surrounding areas. The hike is quite long though, at 7km so keep this in mind especially when hiking on a hot day – take lots of water if you do not hike often. The end of the trail continues onto Stage 2 of Hong Kong Trail, so either be prepared to continue hiking, or make your way back up to the peak on Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road.
