Hong Kong Trail Stage 7 begins at the end of Hong Kong Trail Stage 6 or you may first catch the bus from Chai Wan or Stanley to get to the trail head. Get off the bus at Tai Tam Reservoir North Stop for bus number 314 or 14. The bus stop is about 150 meters from the trail head.

Hike Hong Kong Trail Stage 6
Hong Kong Trail Stage 7 is a paved trail that runs alongside a water catchment for the majority of the way. As with Stage 2, it is a means to an end to get from the end of Stage 6 to the beginning of Stage 8. It does however offer some wonderful views of Tai Tam Harbour which often has boats or skiers enjoying the bay. Wildlife on this trail is mostly, from my experience, snakes. I couldn’t count how many snakes I saw swimming alongside me while walking this trail, however they were all non-venomous and all out of reach, deep in the water catchment runoff.

The end of Hong Kong Trail Stage 7 will put you on Shek O Road, right by a bus stop, or you could continue onto Hong Kong Trail Stage 8, the infamous Dragons Back. The bus from/to here goes to Shau Kei Wan.

First off, here is a map of the mobile network coverage of Hong Kong Trail Stage 7. Take note of telephone booth locations and poor network coverage areas just in case you or one of your team members should have an accident. It is also useful to note the distance marker points so that if you do have an accident, that you can quote the nearest distance post.
And… onto the hike. Make sure you’ve got a cap and plenty of water since there is little to no shade on this trail, par the last 500 meters.
