Hiking Hong Kong Lantau Trail Stage 6 Reversed
Lantau Trail Stage 6 Reversed is more of a way to get to Lantau Trail Stage 5 Reversed. Although the second half of it does venture off the paved trails, Stage 6 Reversed is an introduction to Stage 5 Reversed which trumps over Stage 6 Reversed.
This hiking trail gets 3 stars for enjoyment mainly due to the views one can see to the left of the trail overlooking the mountainside and Tai O as well as the wildlife in the area. Difficulty ranks in at 3 stars also, however this stage could almost warrant 4 stars as it is very steep at most times and doesn't give you much chance for a break.
This is the starting point for Lantau Trail Stage 6 Reversed, which is Lantau Trail Distance Post L055, which incidentally I cannot find. Follow the sign pointing to the left to Man Cheung Po via Lung Tsai.

A short distance ahead, turn right towards Man Cheung Po.

These bugs were flying all over the place around here. I will identify it soon and add it to the insects page. The colors came out great on the photo, which are not as visible to the eye as these bugs don't stay still for too long.

This part of the trail is very steep and can get very slippery when it is very humid or wet as it is covered in moss. Some sections have stairs on the side of the trail as seen below, but most of it is a steep slope which is not very nice to ascend.

I spotted this grasshopper hiding very well in the green grass. We will identify it and add it to the insects page soon.

There are spiders everywhere along this trail during the hotter months. I hope that you like running into Giant Golden Orb Weavers because you will be ducking and dodging these critters all the way up the hill. Pictured below is the female on the left and the much smaller male on the right.

Here is another species of the Giant Golden Orb Weaver spider in Hong Kong.

If you keep your eyes peeled you may spot the Big Buddha off in the far distance to the left.

When you reach the point below, keep to the left heading towards Man Cheung Po. The trail goes off the pavement from here which is a warm welcome.

Glimpses of the forest to the left are quite picturesque.

Ahead, continue straight ahead onto the pavement and up the hill toward Man Cheung Po.

Just past distance post L051, keep to the left and head back off the pavement.

Take a look to your left and you should spot this lovely waterfall between the trees.

Lantau Trail Distance Post L050 marks the end of Lantau Trail Stage 6 Reversed. Your only option from here is to continue onto Lantau Trail Stage 5 Reversed.
