Hiking Hong Kong Peng Chau Hiking Trails

There are many trails to choose from in Peng Chau, giving you the opportunity to mix and match them, to make each trail unique. All the hiking trails in Peng Chau are family friendly for both young and old. Peng Chau is a great destination if you reside in Discovery Bay as it is a mere 10 minute journey and costs only HK$5.50 to get there.

Peng Chau is quite a messy place with lots of debris lying around, which makes it an ideal home for snakes and spiders. Please be careful not to walk through any paths that are off the main trail, and keep an eye out for snakes laying alongside the hiking trail. If you make enough noise they should slither off well before you approach.

Since Peng Chau is such a small island, we offer you a good selection of variations in hiking trails to take. There are two sides to Peng Chau, with residential buildings scattered through the middle. Coming in on the ferry pier, on the left hand side we have mapped out four different hiking trails and provided you with a guide for taking them both forwards and backwards. So in essence there are indeed eight hiking trails.

On the right hand side there are less variations. We have not added these to the website yet, but they will be added shortly. So, ultimately, what you can do is pick a hiking trail from the left side of Peng Chau or from the right hand side of Peng Chau, or add the different variations together to make a hike that covers the entire island.

The only way to get to Peng Chau is via ferry either from Discovery Bay, Central or Cheung Chau. Please find these ferry timetables pictured below.

The Peng Chau to Discovery Bay ferry timetable is shown below. Many ferries run via Trappist Monastery, so may take a little longer. Also, extra ferries are sometimes put on to cope with increased demand mainly during school time and when office workers and laborers finish work in Discovery Bay.
