On a clear day you can get some great photos overlooking Discovery Bay, Disneyland, Peng Chau, and you can even see all the way to Central if you’re lucky.
On the wildlife side, spiders, in particular the Giant Golden Orb Weaver are plentiful during the summer months, otherwise wildlife may be a little sparse.

This is a short hike, but can be a little strenuous for the novice hiker in the first section.

If you live in Discovery Bay, make your way back home!
Now, let’s get onto the hike. After you’ve made your way to the Discovery Bay Ferry Pier, follow these instructions:

Discovery Bay Ferry Pier

Turn left, walking past the bus stop on your right.

Veer right toward the road.

At the T-intersection, cross the road and head over to the right.

Turn left at the La Vista sign.

Ahead you will see a staircase, go up to the top.

At the top of the staircase turn right.

Walk up the hill to the very top behind this pavilion.

On the left hand side behind the pavilion is a set of stairs.

Take the right path and follow it up around a couple of bends till you get to the wide path.

Follow the wide path until you reach the top. There are several turns and it gets quite steep.

At the top the trail goes unpaved. Follow it up and keep left.

Follow the flat path on the left.

On a clear day, the views can be breathtaking.

At the end of this path turn left towards Trappist Monastery.

Staircase down.

The trail winds around some hills before going down a steep section.

Where you turn left towards Trappist Monastery.

The trail towards Trappist Monastery.

A glimpse of Trappist Monastery.

At the bottom of this unpaved trail, turn left onto the road.

Pretty flowers!

Pax Intrantibus

Spotted: a Buddhist Monk.

Views to your right.

Follow the steep road down, down & down, eventually looking for a turn off to the left.

Yo, turn left here. Easy to miss. If you get to the water, you’ve gone too far.

Follow the path up, down and through the village.

After the village the path follows a (dirty) bay.

Pass almost through the houses of this small village. Some dogs here, they are either tied up, or will leave you alone if not.

Pass a small farm area.

And finally through Nim Shue Wan.

And continue to follow the path back to Discovery Bay.
When you get to the road at the end of this path, turn left and walk up the road until you get to the road that came out of the bus stop. Congrats, you are back at the Ferry Pier!
It is not a Buddhist monk in the photo, it is a Trappist monk from the monastery.
